About Harrison Ivaz
Harrison Ivaz’s melodic originals and singular style fuse diverse influences from Wes Montgomery & George Benson to Frank Zappa, Tera Melos and Radiohead with humor and sophistication. A Capilano University Jazz Studies Grad, Harrison has studied with Vancouver jazz icon Bill Coon and performed as guitarist in the renowned Capilano University A Band under the direction of Brad Turner. Born in Chicago and raised in Vancouver, Harrison is also an accomplished rock performer and songwriter. He has performed his quirky original rock at festivals including Lollapalooza, Milwaukee Summerfest, Zentsura AT in Bilbao, Spain, The West Vancouver Harmony Arts Festival, Whistler Animation Festival, Best In Vancouver at the Vancouver Railway Club and more.
Guitarist in the Capilano University A Band from 2021-2023, Harrison has accompanied Pat LaBarbera, Scott Robinson and Denzel Sinclaire. The son of pro musician parents, Harrison’s awards include first place in the 2013 BC Youth Week Amplifier Competition, and Semi-Finalist two years in a row at the PNE (Pacific National Exposition) Talent Competition. His anti-bullying rock anthem and music video “Sweet & Sunny” written by Harrison at age 12, is at over 65,000 views on YouTube (Link to Harrison’s YouTube Channel) and is still shared by anti-bullying organizations in the US and Canada.
Harrison was also one of Vancouver’s youth actors and has appeared on TV, in radio commercials and theatre productions, including a critically-acclaimed lead in the William Finn-James Lapine musical “Falsettos” (directed by Peter Jorgensen, Patrick Street Productions.)
